¡Hola! Welcome to the web site of Delphine & Domingo. We are a professional & internationally respected flamenco guitarist & dancer specialising in school performances all over the UK.
Our journey towards working in schools was never planned. Concerts had taken us all around the world & we were sometimes asked to visit schools as we are all aware that children love moving, dancing & music wherever they are no matter what their first language is. We have found that communication by music & dance can quite naturally take the place of words.
In the UK a chance appearance on the Wide Awake Club children’s television programme provoked many enquiries from schools & has since led us to the evolution of our own especially created performances with participation suitable for all ages & all abilities. We have been to many schools of all varieties with some wishing to emphasise movement while others prefer to focus on flamenco guitar music, geography, history, etc.
Not only have we found that each school is different but there are also recognised differences between the years. A challenge at times, but, something that we are well capable of rising to. We were chosen for BBC Radio Music Machine, which has a target audience of fourteen year olds. Warwick Preparatory School wrote
“you are so much more than entertainment - there is a strong teaching & learning content to your work - your appeal is also cross-curricular (music, dance, geography, language etc) & relevant to all ages of student too.”
A Liverpool school e-mailed in June 2009
“The children and staff are still talking about the work you did with the children. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. The children are really keen to learn to speak Spanish now. They are all loving the Spanish culture and traditions and are all eager to learn more. Thank you for sparking our children with the enthusiasm to learn more outside their own culture.”
Many thanks for a fantastic Spanish Day - Mayfield Preparatory School.
